2020 Vigil Honor Nominations

May 31, 2020 by webadmin

Vigil Honor nominations are due by 4pm on June 13. This year, because of restricted attendance at our work days, we are giving the opportunity to submit your nomination virtually via a form if you would like. You may also submit the standard form located at https://www.mitigwa-lodge.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/VH-Nomination-Form.pdf if you are coming to the June 13 work day. Please do not come to camp to drop off forms only and do not mail them to the council office or any officer/advisers.

Please read the following carefully.

A list of Vigil Honor eligible members can be found here.

NOTE: Nominees must have 2020 dues paid before submitted their nomination or it will be invalid. If you intend to pay that nominee’s dues, do it beforehand by following the instructions below.

Only basic information is on the list due to privacy issues. If you have a specific question about a member’s availability, please email Dana Danks at danadanks@gmail.com to ask.

Paying Another Member’s Dues

It is our hope that any potential nominee is already a member in good standing of the lodge and has paid their 2020 dues already. If, however, you feel there is an outstanding candidate who did not pay their 2020 dues, there are two options.

1. Pay their $17 dues in person at the work day. This option is only for members who are attending the work day on June 13. Please do NOT come to camp just to pay someone’s dues.

2. Pay the nominees dues online using the following steps:

  • Go to the council website at https://scoutingevent.com/177-OADues
  • Click on 2020 Dues and continue as a Guest
  • Use your name, email address and Troop to proceed to the next screen
  • Fill out the Participant information with the person’s name/info you are paying dues for.
  • Check out using your own credit card/billing information

While we recognize there are some instances the above may be needed, it is every Arrowman’s personal responsibility to stay up to date on dues.

Nominating Procedure

  • Online Vigil Honor Nomination Form
  • Hard copy Vigil Honor Nomination Form

Again, please do not come to camp to hand in forms or pay someone’s dues unless you are volunteering for the June 13 work day. We need to control the number of people in and out of camp.

Spring Conclave Postponed until June 6, 2020

April 28, 2020 by webadmin

Brothers,

Lodge leadership met recently to discuss the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation and how it will affect Spring Conclave. We know this is a challenging time for all of our members.

Because of ongoing concerns, your lodge chief, vice-chiefs and advisers have decided to cancel our traditional Spring Conclave (May 15-17, 2020). This was a difficult decision. Please read the following information carefully.

While our traditional event is canceled, Camp Mitigwa still needs our help to get ready for summer camp. Currently, an entire summer of camp is still on the schedule.

We will be having a one-day service day currently planned on June 6 for all Arrowman to come and give service to camp and complete projects that need to be done before camp starts. We will begin around 8:30am and finish work projects before dinner. Lunch will also be served. After a quick meal in the evening, we will also have a Lodge Executive Committee Meeting. All Chapter Chiefs and advisers are encouraged to attend.

While we will try our best to keep work groups small and still encourage social distancing, all members should bring their own masks to camp (if still recommended or personally wanted.) Please also bring your own work gloves, own water bottle, etc.

We encourage all Arrowman to attend this work day. This will qualify as a work day for either the first year award or the Lodge service award.

Vigil nominations will be due by dinner time on June 6. Since this is only a one-day event, we will not be having ceremonies during this time. We still have a little over 50 candidates from 2019 who have not completed their Ordeal yet. These candidates have been granted an additional year to get their Ordeal completed by National. They have several choices for completing their Ordeal and we will be contacting them with options shortly.

First, if their unit is going to Summer Camp, they can attend camp and complete their Ordeal with other candidates from that week of summer camp. (Note, candidates choosing this option need to be in camp the entire week.) Or, these candidates can come to Fall Fellowship in August, or next year’s Spring Conclave in May 2021.
