There can be no walk-ins or registration changes between the camporee and OA registration at the event.
Ring Blitz and Spring Induction Weekend will be held at Mitigwa Scout Reservation at 1820 Magnolia Rd, Woodward, IA 50276 April 30 – May 1, 2021. To help coordinate transportation for both the Order of the Arrow and those attending the camporee, check-in time begins at 7 pm on Friday, April 30 at the Deere Center main office – look for the OA signs. There is no evening meal, so please eat dinner before you arrive.
Medical form parts A&B are required. Parents can fill out the form for their children, and adults can fill out their own. Please bring a COPY of your form and not the original. These will be collected at check-in and available to pick up before you leave camp. Any forms not picked up Sunday will be destroyed. Upon arrival, there will be a camp temperature check.
All attendees should bring the following standard camping gear:
A full Scout uniform, Class B shirt (or other work shirt) and shorts, water bottle, sleeping bag, tent, work clothes, boots, work gloves, rain gear and other camping items normally used on campouts (flashlight, pocket knife, etc.)
Candidates should also bring a ground cloth for sleeping Friday night instead of a tent unless they are staying as part of the camporee until Sunday, in which case they should bring a tent as well. If a candidate is only staying until Saturday, a tent is not required. In case of bad weather, we will take care of candidates appropriately.
If you have any hand tools such as bowsaws, loppers, etc. you can bring, that would be great too. Be sure to keep track of them so they don’t get lost.
Upon arrival, you will receive a schedule for the weekend and be directed to a campsite. You may camp with your Troop if they are attending the camporee or in the designated OA area. Maps and/or locations will be posted near check-in.
Candidates will gather at 9 pm with the Pre-Ordeal ceremony starting at 10 pm.
During the day on Saturday, both current members and candidates will participate in the Mitigwa Strong camporee by giving service to camp. The Ordeal ceremony will take place around 4:00 pm with a short meeting for new members and then dinner afterward. We will be done with the OA portion by around 6 pm and begin clean-up. Those leaving Saturday should be picked up from camp between 6:30 – 7 pm.
The OA portion of the event ends after clean-up on Saturday night. All are welcome to stay on Saturday night, but there will be no OA program, or adult supervision for those attending without their unit. There will also be no crackerbarrel, or prepared breakfast on Sunday. For those staying until Sunday, all are invited to attend the council campfire at 8:30 pm. All attendees need to have their area cleaned up and packed up by 10:00 am on Sunday.
This is going to be a very busy weekend. We hope to see you also at Spring Conclave in a couple of weeks as we put the finishing touches on getting ready for Summer Camp!
