Mitigwa Lodge joins the National Order of the Arrow in providing new requirements for Cub Scout ceremonies, including Crossover and Arrow of Light Ceremonies. Effective immediately as of September 2018, the following requirements must be observed.
Ceremonies Performed By Troops
Cub Scout leaders are urged to contact their equivalent Boy Scout Troop to conduct Arrow of Light and Crossover ceremonies. Ceremonies performed by Troops must be performed without any Order of the Arrow indicia, including sashes.
Ceremonies Performed by OA Chapter/Lodge
For packs and dens without a dedicated Boy Scout Troop, Mitigwa Lodge joins the National Order of the Arrow Organization in changing the way its chapters perform Arrow of Light and Crossover ceremonies. Effective September 2018, the guidelines for LODGE AND CHAPTER CONDUCTED ceremonies are as follows:
- Ceremonies must not be performed in any Native American regalia
- Ceremonies must be presented in full Boy Scout uniform with OA Sash
- Ceremonies must not include face painting
- The only ceremonies that can be performed are the official ceremonies as provided by National. These are:
Any leaders who observe a ceremony team from Mitigwa Lodge not following these guidelines are asked to please notify lodge leadership.
