The Mid-Iowa Council is excited to announce it will celebrate the Order of the Arrow’s centennial as an ArrowTour host. ArrowTour is an interactive event for Scouts, volunteers, and Scouting alumni that will travel throughout the country during the summer of 2015. The tour will make a stop on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Fred Maytag II Scout Service Center, located at 6123 Scout Trail in Des Moines.
The purpose of the tour is to commemorate the Order of the Arrow’s 100th anniversary. During the event, participants will have the opportunity to learn about the Order of the Arrow, its story, and its future. Some of the program highlights include interactive exhibits, activities such as silk-screening, branding, and challenge games. There will also be activities geared to Cub Scouts like BB Gun Shooting, Archery, Fishing, and Carnival Games, as well as other activities for both Youth and Adults. Participants will have a chance to meet some of the Order’s national leaders, and alumni can learn about the Scouting Alumni Association and local alumni efforts to supporting Scouting in our area.
An exclusive ArrowTour Trading Post will carry ArrowTour and OA centennial merchandise. The program will conclude with a special show that recognizes the Order’s rich history and empowers participants to help shape the organization’s future. The Order of the Arrow is creating a truly unique and interactive experience for all Scouts, volunteers, and Scouting alumni.
The tour will open at 1:00pm and will conclude with a gathering in the Ampetheater at 6:00pm. The event is free.
Where is ArrowTour?
The Mid-Iowa Council ArrowTour stop will be at the Fred Maytag II Scout Center, 6123 Scout Trail in Des Moines Iowa. It is located close to Loffredo Foods on 63rd Street.

Free Event Patch To First 500 Youth!
Our Mid-Iowa Scout Shop will be giving away a free ArrowTour patch to the first 500 youth-attendees at the event! This limited-edition patch features The Order of the Arrow logo, the name of the Mid-Iowa Council and the years 1915-2015, celebrating 100 years of the Order of the Arrow! This patch will be given to the first 500 youth, regardless of how they are registered – or not registered – in Scouting!
Be sure to stop in the Scout Shop while you are at the event and tell them thank you!
Bring Your T-Shirts and Purchase Mugs in the Scout Shop!
You can brand your own T-Shirt with an Order of the Arrow design, or use a hot iron to brand an OA design into a piece of leather of your choice, or even a special brand-able mug! Mugs are available for $7.99 in the Scout Shop. Bring your favorite camp shirt, or a blank T-shirt to brand the logo onto the front or back!
